The New General Catalogue [NGC]

John Dreyer published the New General Catalogue [NGC] of Nebulae and Clusters of Stars in 1888.  This is a huge list of objects with many contributions from Sir William and Sir John Herschel from their observations in the mid 1800s from both hemispheres.  NGC2300 in Star Vistas is a large elliptical galaxy in the constellation Cepheus.
